Practitioners carry blades. A bunch of blades. And they can cut you in ways you’ve probably never thought of. Like, from the back of your neck, drawing it forward. Yeah, you’ve just been decapitated from behind, by a dude that is standing all up in your face. If you ever want to become a killing machine, or learn to defend yourself from one, check them out.

This, however, was totally unexpected. In this video, they show that it is possible to deploy a compound bow in the defense of your home. Is it the most practical weapon? I guess that depends upon how capable you are with a bow. The learning curve is certainly steeper than a firearm. But then, it’s more quiet. You could conceivably take down a half dozen intruders one by one, without them knowing it. Bonus if you don’t wake the wife or kids. Plus, you get points when the zombies rise up.
The point is, all of those anachronistic weapons may be more practical than you thought. It’s not about what the magazines or forums say. It’s about what you enjoy practicing. So, if General Kwon’s big ass knife is your thing, then practice it. Make it work.
