Though it’s set in the year 2154, the technology the trailer depicts seems to be soooo 2025.

If you look at the robots in Elysium you can probably see the family resemblance. They do not depict 161 years of evolution. More like 10. In other words, these things might be on the streets of Oakland, or Philly, or Atlanta within our lifetimes. Think of them as sidewalk drones.
